Try!

Our Plumerias are in full bloom!

I love Dr. Seuss for few reasons...one is that I can understand the simplicity of the words since English is still not my first language and second my son Raffaele was reading his books at the age of 3!

Love this quote:
" Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!"
- Dr. Seuss

Fresh coat of paint!

I am so excited!!! I have been painting my walls for a couple of days. As you can see from the image on the left ,  the walls were hunter green. Not sure where we get this bright ideas. Painting it so dark was not a good idea. The room that doesn't have a name actually because it is between the kitchen and the dining room, is long and narrow. The green made it look much smaller.

I chose Vintage White from Glidden and gave three coats. The cabinet that I purchased from Sweet Magnolias Farm was already cute and now is the most beautiful thing!

The shutter was a gift from Lori and I am so happy I found a place for it. I added chicken wire in the empty space. Love it!

I am working on few details in my office area that has been painted too but as you know where We create is always a mess!

Getting Published!

Buongiorno Mondo!
I am so happy to have been published in the Somerset Home Magazine!

I hope this post will clarify to you the way artists get to be published in these publications.....I am so fortunate to have so many friends that support me,support my decisions and I can help them too.
I have been published often in the last couple of years and it's the most amazing thing. Getting publish to me is not for fame but is to share my work and my techniques. My name gets out there and since woodworking and soldering is my REAL JOB it helps sell my product too. What better way to do it through Somerset Home.
This is what I heard the last couple of months
"Rita.... you are everywhere.....in all the magazines!!!!!"

"You know you can get your art work published too?"
Page 142 of Somerset Home it tells you specifically how to submit your work.
So get your stuff together and try it. That is what I did.
I have the best managing editor to work with, Beth Livesay.
Thank you Beth for encouraging me and all these wonderful artists.
Here are my pages in the latest issue of Somerset Home.

Bubbles!!!

I spent another beautiful day in Solder - land!
I love my bubbles!! I don't particularly like to wear jewelry and that is why I love the simplicity of these bubbles and plus I can add any word I like. Simple and Affordable. Last Christmas I actually had customers buying the bubbles with special words in it and they added them in the outside of the gift hanging from a burlap or painter cloth ribbon. Such a special gift.
I listed few of these bubbles on my etsy but I have more not listed. So please e-mail me if you see anything in particular that you would like and I will pay pal you. Also if you are familiar with Old Town Temecula, Ca. I have these bubbles at Vintage Begonia in Old Town Front Street.

These are my newest and cutest collection. Pink mini bubbles! They will be available at the next Vintage Marketplace at the Oaks September 7th and 8th, 2012
$15.00 each

Lavender Salt in a Pretty Soldered Bottle

Such a great soldering day today!! I have been busy with Summer, Friends and a lot of woodwork that I almost forgot how much I love to solder. And as some of you know I sell initial bubble charms and I am out of the so......I had to work on that too. I purchased the bottle at Goodwill while my Pricipessa Lisa was visiting.

I can't believe the collection of stuff that I added to this bottle. To start, I was thinking ...if I solder a bottle it has to be for something useful. I am not crazy on having something on a shelf just to collect dust.

I filled the bottle with Lavender Salt and started to copper foil where I wanted the solder to show.  I gathered all my pretty junk and I started choosing pieces to add.

On top of the lid is a gold daisy pin, disassembled. Then I added some vintage cream ribbon and a crystal to the neck of the bottle. A copper chain is wrapped around the neck with a vintage rhinestone ,a pearl button and the pocket watch.
The pocket watch has some ornate metal inside and a vintage earring.

Fresh Lavender is inside.
This was a happy day, making something out of my ordinary day!

The bottle is for sale HERE
